Fresh off the wheels of a BET Hip-Hop Awards Cypher appearance, Ghanaian rapper Ko-Jo Cue has released a new EP titled I’M Back. The seven-track project, released on November 16, marks Cue’s first release in two years. “I’M Back” borrows a lot of imagery from basketball, with themes such as self-expression, celebration, hustle, and seizing the day. It features guest verses from talented Ghanaian artists iJoey B, Strongman, Ypee, Kweku Smoke, Kwaku DMC, Kay Ara, Big Homie Flee, and Ria Boss. For its production, Ko-Jo Cue tapped into the services of Fortune Dane, Anae WhoisDrumx, and Kobe Norths, among others. Notably, Peewezel, a long-term collaborator, makes a return after being absent from his last three projects.

Speaking on I’M Back, Ko-Jo Cue said, “I have been gone for a bit and started feeling a lot of energy that rekindled my love for hip-hop.” “So before I get back to regular scheduled programming, I felt like putting the glasses down and stepping into the booth again,” the rapper added.

Before releasing I’M Back, Ko-Jo Cue released “Free Throw” as a prelude to the EP. Featuring Joey B, the track celebrates wins in the face of fierce opposition. With I’M Back, Ko-Jo Cue celebrates authentic hip-hop, acknowledging the sports that have inspired him. The EP also serves as a tribute to the artists who have helped him along the way.
