From Hey Neighbour to Shoma Fest, Sho Madjozi’s star power is irrefutable

This past weekend was testament to the irrefutable star power of internationally renowned, award-winning rapper, Sho Madjozi. Making the South Africa X Trends list twice this weekend: first appearing after taking the stage at Hey Neighbour Festival and delivering a worldclass show performing hits such as “John Cena” and “Huku” and introducing audiences to songs from her new album due for release in 2024, like “Solo Dolo” featuring rapper Scumie; and making the X Trends list again yesterday for her inaugural Shoma Fest which saw thousands of people show up for this special curated kids’ event.

Taking a moment out of her Hey Neighbour Festival performance to address current injustices in the world, the multi-hyphenated star exclaimed “Free Congo, Free Palestine, Free Sudan, and all oppressed people!” Staying true to herself and using her brand to elevate others, Sho Madjozi’s Hey Neighbour Festival appearance embodied all aspects of her brand ethos.

Closing out the weekend with her inugural Shoma Fest at the Mall of Africa, which saw queues wrap around the mall as thousands of excited children and parents eagerly made their way to the festival vaccinity. Children had the opporunity to get their “Shoma and The Stars” books signed by Sho Madjozi as well as photo opportunities, with numerous kids expressing they thought she wasn’t “a real person”.
