Stonebwoy Reignites “Apotheke” With Producer Extraordinaire Maphorisa By Releasing Music Video

Beloved African superstar, Grammy-nominated Ghanaian dancehall and reggae star, Stonebwoy, has joined forces with South African DJ/producer extraordinaire, Maphorisa, reigniting their single “Apotheke” with visuals. The infectious dancehall/amapiano fusion track’s official music video celebrates pioneers of the amapiano sound.

“Apotheke” which means “pharmacy” in German, is an ode to a beautiful woman whose dance moves are like an irresistible drug. “The song is about partying and dancing,” explains Stonebwoy. “Imagine spotting a very fine sister in a bougie setting…you can’t wait to watch her blow up the party with her effortless moves in that curvy body.”

The collaboration with Maphorisa was an organic one between friends. “Maphorisa and I have been friends in the industry for years,” says Stonebwoy. “I visited him in Sandton, and we immediately cooked up this contagious song together. He’s the perfect fit as this track fuses amapiano with fresh Afro-dancehall vibes.”

To bring “Apotheke” to life visually, Stonebwoy filmed the video in the streets of London, capturing a lively party with cameos from amapiano DJs, artists, and dancers. “There’s no better way to represent a dance song that brings people good vibes than through a true life event,” he says.

The “Apotheke” video arrives as Stonebwoy celebrates the one-year anniversary of his 5th studio album, 5th Dimension. The globally acclaimed project included standout moments like Stonebwoy’s historic performance at Accra Sports Stadium (40,000 capacity with 15,000 additional on the pitch) and his recent show closing the All African Games (15,000 capacity).

“I feel blessed with this body of work, and there’s more to come, such as serving our people and establishing the African sound globally,” Stonebwoy states. “I want South Africa to embrace and enjoy this video just as the world loves it.”
