PsychoYP comes in hot in a track about police brutality and discrimination as he smoothly raps “IC3, you know what, I see me”, while proclaiming himself Number 1 in the country. The code “IC3” being British Police IC code for describing Black and Afro Caribbean ethnicity.
While finding inspiration for this single from the UK drill scene, he played the song for one of the best Grime artists in the UK, BackRoad Gee, which formed a hit collaboration and hearty brotherhood. The Princeton produced track also features fellow Apex Village heavyweight, Zilla Oaks.
Earlier this year, PsychoYP was at the forefront of Hip-Hop conversations in Nigeria with his last single ‘BANDO DIARIES’ becoming a viral rap challenge.
Aptly described as the ‘Fresh Prince of Nigerian rap’, 23-year old culture icon PsychoYP is one of the pioneers and leaders of the new wave of rap and hip-hop music in Nigeria. Born in the country’s capital city Abuja, PsychoYP is a multi-faceted artist with a diverse and progressive sound that cuts across rap, trap, grime, drill and R&B music. Recently crowned the best rapper in Africa by The NATIVE, and hailed as one of the 10 Nigerian artists to watch by Complex, PsychoYP already boasts one of the best rap discographies on the continent, and he is only just getting started. ‘IC3’ is the forerunner to the third instalment of his YPSZN mixtape series.
