North London-based singer, songwriter and producer DAN ONKAR is excited to unveil “Checking My Phone,” a feel good RnB cut looking to set the mood for the project ‘Before The Day Ends’. Checking My Phone is a song written in the limbo of uncertainty when you are waiting for someone you’re thinking of to reach out to you. The bass on the other hand is more aggressive than laid back and really invites you to engage with the song in more than just a sombre mood. Produced by Dan Onkar as well, the song has some synth pop flare to it.
Onkar’s music merges introspective writing with multi genre fused production, gifting us with the carefully packaged projects in the past like ‘Irene’ and ‘A Night Like This’. The forthcoming project “Before The Day Ends” feels like a lover seeking some type of reconciliation after retribution.
Dan Onkar says, “The beauty in checking my phone is it’s easy to get lost in the vibe of the song but the message carries through, even though two people aren’t on good terms it’s not particularly sour and sometimes both people standing on business isn’t always the first choice or that it’s even mutual. For me it was about expressing a desire to reach out but also respect yourself enough to stick to boundaries but we’re human, nothing is ever just one thing”.
Already creating a distinctively reputable imprint across the scene, Onkar has written and produced music with a tailored palette of musicians over the years including the likes of notable acts BenjiFlow, Oxlade, Jords, Tailor, Lotto boys and Nosa Apollo to create the perfect sounds.
With previous projects supported by the likes of BBC 1Xtra(where he was nominated one to watch by DJ, Jevanni Letford), Capital Xtra, Kiss Radio, No Signal, Rinse FM and Reprezent Radio.
