Basadi In Music award-nominated singer and songwriter, Gemma Fassie, carves her unique path with her latest single “No More”, and announces she has joined forces with artist services company, Platoon, and renowned multi-award-winning musician, Msaki, and her artist development incubator ALTBLKcontinua who will both be supporting her through her debut EP set for release later this year.
About “No More” Gemma Fassie shares: “Although you’d think “No More” is a heartbreak song it’s the complete opposite. The idea that love can only be a positive feeling is what blinds us to the red flags. This song is affirmation to myself to learn to let go. The beat evokes so many different feelings. The contrast between the lyrics and the beat can explain how one can go from feeling all the emotions being in love comes with to being able to say “I love you enough to let go”.
A star on the rise from Cape Town, Gemma Fassie has set her heart on healing, inspiring and sharing love through music. Coming from a musical family, she was exposed to various music genres which impacted her sound. She’s constantly exploring the roots of her musical background and infusing those melodies into the music she makes.
Gemma Fassie has been carving her way within the South African entertainment industry as a recording and performing artist, songwriter and digital content creator. She has also performed on some of South Africa’s most well-renowned stages and theaters and being part of a classical choir trained her musical ear.
In 2020, Gemma Fassie released her debut single titled “Best Life” thereafter she was determined to drop more music and that led her to drop a 3 track EP “After Hours”.
“This project enabled me to tap into a different form of my artistry. Not only was I able to be experimental but find the beauty in telling my stories through songwriting and having the ability to share it with my friends, family and a complete stranger,” says Gemma Fassie.
