Kenyan alternative R&B artist Maya Amolo is back with her second offering of the year, “Foundry” feat. kalibwani. This sensual single speaks on finding your way back to your person. With it, Maya pushes her artistic boundaries.
“I definitely took risks and explored my voice a lot more on this track,” she says.
The singer-songwriter enlists a trio of rising Nairobi-based musicians as collaborators on this track. Record producer Lukorito’s crisp production, punctuated by drums laid by DJ IV, creates the quintessential base for Maya’s sultry vocals, while Ugandan rapper and singer, kalibwani, delivers a smooth verse about unwavering companionship.
This is the second joint offering from Lukorito and Maya – following her single Can’t Get Enough released earlier this year – and is the first song they ever worked on together, highlighting their innate musical chemistry.
Out now, this single serves as a prelude to Maya’s forthcoming EP set for release in early Autumn.
About Maya Amolo

Maya Amolo is a Kenyan singer-songwriter whose music explores love’s complex spectrum through the lens of alternative R&B. She cut her teeth on SoundCloud, collaborating with internet producers to create sad boi tunes including “U Wanna” and “Where Tornados Flew”. A trademark of her artistry, Maya’s sugary vocals and soft harmonies quickly amassed her a dedicated listenership and garnered the attention of local producers and musicians.
Mid-2020, Maya released her debut project, Leave Me At The Pregame, which takes the listener through a melodious journey of self-acceptance and healing. Her sound has evolved since leaving the pregame, now, she enters into a new era of her artistry:
“I used to think I make the best music when I’m sad and angry but in the past year I realised that I make the best music when I’m honest, and honest can be any feeling”.
Maya has established herself as one to watch having been covered by tastemaker platforms including NPR, The Native Mag, Okay Africa, Harmattan Rain, and TANGAZA Magazine as well as having been selected as Spotify Africa’s inaugural Fresh Finds artist in May, 2022.
