Toronto-based artist Malaika Khadijaa’s voice is sultry, soft, and as smooth as her signature headscarf. It oozes into the pieces of your soul that you didn’t even know existed. She harmonizes like an angel and her indie-r&b with a sprinkle of African melodies have the power to make your heart shine a little brighter.  Incorporating her heritage into everything she does as an artist is extremely important to Malaika. She possesses a unique ability to masterfully blend her culture into modern art. She has also begun incorporating her home languages of Swahili and Kinubi into her more recent music in hopes to connect with her people across the diaspora.

In the three short years that she has been making music seriously, Malaika has an impressive portfolio of accomplishments. One of her biggest being the co-founder of LUMINARY, an organization dedicated to helping emerging artists spread love and light through their art. Her organization has hosted four events, including a sold-out showcase featuring 10 artists from across the GTA, two live stream concerts, a week-long workshop series covering the basics of creating and releasing music, and BIPOC FEST presented by LUMINARY, Serious Betty, and Enso Showcase is Canada’s First festival with an all Black, Indigenous, and POC line up.

She has released just one project, an EP titled ’18‘, and a couple singles.
