Eli Maliki to Return From Hiatus With Anticipated Project ‘Maliki-Fy’

Kenyan-Ugandan recording and performing artist Eli Maliki is primed to release his much anticipated project Maliki-Fy after taking a music hiatus. His last full length project was 2015’s experimental and fully-instrumental record, HEY. Back to his best, Eli presents Maliki-Fy.

The record in Eli’s words is a reunion with friends and family, and an evolution of his sound over the years.

ELI MALIKI’S NOTES ON THE EP

The EP is about love, pain and good vibes. Maliki-Fy represents the season of my life in which I was while writing and producing this body of work. Sounds of this EP are very Afro upbeat with a soulful vibration. I produced the entire project which allowed me to express myself even better, I worked with other musicians too on some of the songs like READY, where we have a live brass section by Mozart and live electric guitar by Fidel Mambo. 2GETHER and SEMA as well, they both have live electric guitar by Fidel Mambo. I also had my producer friend Roy Kasika co-producer Sema with me. This has given the project alot of value. I expect this project to reach all corners of the world, speak to souls that I might never get the chance to meet in person, open doors for me to greater heights and re-introduce me to the music industry .”

The EP Maliki-Fy is a six-track project rolled out with singles in the flirtatious and sensual “Nyumbani”, heart-wrenching “Lubeerera ” and the croony Afro-soul cut “Sema”. Eli’s writing prowess and his intricate arrangement are magnified on this project. His ability to self-produce the project also marvels showing his growth as a musician. On the heels of his tantalizing bedroom comeback single “Nyumbani” that was followed up by the hypnotic “Lubeerera”, and his Ten Over Ten-launched anthem “Sema”, Eli is set to share his idyllic Soul-fusion opus that will reflect his Kenyan-Ugandan influences, and highlight him as one of the region’s standout raconteurs..
