Drummr Africa sponsors FC Strike Back, a football team competing in a football league organised by students union executives of Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU). JABU is a private faith-based educational institution located at Osun State, Nigeria.
The sponsorship deal covers the team’s jersey and the provisions of other miscellaneous items that would contribute to proper playing conditions. Additionally, Drummr is committed to helping its fans have a good atmosphere to support the team that they love.
Speaking on the sponsorship, Drummr’s CEO, John Eni-ibukun said,
“We were excited when the opportunity presented itself because we see a lot of similarities between Drummr and FC Strike Back. They have a team of young exciting prospects and there seem to be colour and creativity in their gameplay. We also got invested in the idea of sponsoring a sports team after assessing the significant similarities between sports and art. They both are media through which young people express themselves, and this aligns with our vision of finding ways to give opportunities and platforms to young people so they can express themselves.
Also, The things that sports teach – fairness, sportsmanship, resilience, unity, strength (both mental and physical) – it is important that these attributes are found in young Africans so we can have a future worth looking forward to. We encourage that these traits be developed in youth through sports and games. Subsequently, we are actively ready to keep this going and hope that through our continuous efforts towards giving platforms to young people we will see young people have fun, unreserved, while they grow into responsible adults for the larger society.”
The football league began on Saturday, 6th of November, with FC Strike Back playing their opening match in the radiant White, Blue and Red jerseys to the spectacle of the College’s Vice Chancellor, the fans and other members of university staff.
